Intimate Wedding Ceremony at Minnekhada Lodge, Port Coquitlam, B.C.

Minnekhada Lodge Wedding

I remember the meeting Jamie and Sam over video call for the first time – I knew right from the start that we were meant to be. They are one of the most laid-back, happy-go-lucky, and playful couple I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with. I keep returning to their wedding photos even though it’s been nearly a year because of how genuine their wedding was. “Genuine” might be an odd word to describe a wedding, but now that I am planning my own, I see how far and how lost you can get amongst all the unnecessary details of a wedding. I adored the fact that this wedding was an uncomplicated celebration of Jamie and Sam’s love.

Minnekhada Lodge is a hidden gem of a venue, tucked away in Minnekhada Regional Park in Port Coquitlam, B.C. It was perfect for their small and intimate ceremony of ~55 people. The lodge has two gorgeous rooms that the bride and the groom can each use to get ready in. My favourite part of the getting ready photos was being able to run back and forth between both rooms, capturing both Sam and Jamie. When they were ready for their first look, they just had to leave their room and walk out onto each of their respective balconies and look across the reception area underneath them.

Tiny little details of their wedding made it so unique. Jamie’s earrings were her grandmother’s. Their rings were all from a vintage shop. Jamie’s bouquet was from a small floral shop in Vancouver.  And Sam made this ring box himself!

Jamie and Sam ditched the traditional processional and walked out hand-in-hand onto the ceremony site when they were ready. Sam’s nephew handed over the rings during the ceremony (so cute!). Jamie and Sam said “I do” under a beautiful tree on the lawn of Minnekhada Lodge in front of their closest family and friends. I remember asking Jamie if they were going to do vows, at which she laughed and told me she wanted to avoid as much speaking as possible during the ceremony. Neither had to utter a single word for everybody (including me) to feel the love that they have for each other.

Literally ten steps away from the lawn was this beautiful pocket of greenery with a cute red bridge that made for stunning “just married” portraits. My goodness, what I would give to relive this perfect wedding day!
